Lotus Elise / Exige ECU aftermarket upgrade to ECU Master

The Lotus Elise launched in 1996 is a lightweight car only weighing around 1,900 lbs to 2,000 lbs. It has a minimalistic design with a focus on handling rather than power. Under the hood, the Lotus Elise has a Rover K-Series engine in the first models then in the later models they were upgraded to Toyota-sourced engines, achieving up to 220 hp. The Elise S1 can reach a top speed of 126 mph, going from 0-60 mph in 5.5 seconds and the later models can reach speeds of 150 mph. The Lotus Elise 11R/ Elise R goes from 0-60 mph in 4.9 seconds and the Elise Sport 240 Final Edition can go from 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds. The Lotus Elise has an extremely lightweight and rigid Aluminium bonded monocoque, focusing on cornering agility and driver feedback rather than straight-line speed.

The Lotus Exige was launched in 2000 and can be referred to as Elise’s angrier, more track-focused sibling. Following the same concept as the Elise model, the car remains lightweight, between 2,400-2,500 lbs, additionally, the chassis has the same base as the Elise with a more aggressive aero and tuning. The Lotus Exige was released with the same Toyota-sourced engine to begin with, then later models (especially post-2012) used a supercharged V6 (3.5L) from Toyota. The power ranges from 190 hp in the earlier models to over 400 hp in the Exige Cup 430, which can reach a top speed of 180 mph, going from 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds. The earlier models can reach a top of 147 mph, going from 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds.

In more recent years these modern classics are starting to get to an age where the ECUs need to be replaced. Some of the OEM ECUs used in the early Lotus models (especially the Elise) have developed a bit of a reputation as they are approaching an age where the ECU starts becoming more problematic, making this a must-have replacement on the Lotus cars. If you own an Elise S1, Elise S2 or Exige S2 and need an ECU replacement please contact us with confidence, we have nearly 6 decades of experience in the trade. The ECU comes fully unlocked, offering access to all features including traction control, pit limiters, launch control, and more.
