2026 has been a landmark year for P&K Thornton, marking the first time the business has hosted three open days in a single year. Previously, the team held one open day annually, making this year's expanded programme a significant step forward. These events have welcomed customers, enthusiasts, friends and family to our workshops, giving visitors the opportunity to explore our facilities, see specialist restoration work up close and meet the team behind the business. They have also helped us raise even more money for Cancer Research UK, a cause that remains incredibly important to us.
This year, in order to make the open days more unique, the summer and autumn open days had their own theme. The summer event celebrated Ferrari, and the autumn event put Aston Martin in the spotlight. The themed events provided an opportunity to celebrate these iconic marques and welcome enthusiasts with a particular interest in their engineering, history and craftsmanship.
Visitors could enjoy the atmosphere around the workshops, see vehicles and projects up close, and speak directly with technicians and panel beaters about the work being carried out. Not to mention, visitors could enjoy some free coffee and cake provided by our specialist catering suppliers, Boxed Drinks, and experience our state-of-the-art rolling road dyno in action.
Across the three open days, P&K Thornton raised over £800 for Cancer Research UK. This builds on the success of the spring event, which alone raised over £400 for the charity. Cancer Research UK remains a charity we are incredibly proud to support, and we are pleased to have raised further funds for its vital work throughout this year’s open days. We would like to thank everyone who attended, donated and helped organise the events, as well as the team members who gave up their time to make each day a success.
Following the success of this year’s open days, we look forward to welcoming visitors back in 2027 for more opportunities to celebrate exceptional cars, showcase our specialist skills and bring the motoring community together. If you are looking to get your modern classic restored, serviced or recommissioned, please don’t hesitate to get in contact. Additionally, if any other clubs want to organise an event at our workshops, please call us on 0115 926 2266 or email us at info@thorntonrestorations.com.
