Rolling Road Highlights: Fine-tuning legends on our state-of-the-art Dyno - October 2025

Our rolling road dyno is a specialist piece of equipment that allows us to measure a vehicle’s performance under controlled conditions. It allows us to hold consistent loads and revs longer than on the road. The dyno allows us to measure several key performance metrics, including a vehicle’s horsepower, torque output, air-fuel ratio, and power delivery curves, which shows how the engine behaves under load. The rolling roads’ safe and controlled environment is great for fine-tuning carburettors, ignition timing and fuel mapping. In addition, it allows us to confirm that a restoration or engine rebuild is producing the correct performance. We have recently had a variety of classic and modern classic cars use our state-of-the-art rolling road to ensure they are finely tuned for great performance and drivability.

A modern classic car that has recently used our dyno was a Porsche 904 Carrera GTS. Introduced in 1964, the Porsche 904 had a fibreglass body bonded to a steel ladder chassis, making it lightweight and rigid and was initially fitted with the 2.0-litre flat-four from the 356 Carrera, producing around 180hp and going from 0-60mph in under 6 seconds. Later models went on to have a flat-six or flat-eight engine for competition. This Porsche 904 Carrera GTS came into our workshop for a carburettor set-up on our rolling road, which involves fine-tuning the fuel and air mixture delivered to the engine, which allows it to run smoothly, efficiently and at full performance.

Additionally, a Ferrari 365 GTB has recently been on our rolling road. After the Ferrari 365 was released in 1968, it was nicknamed the Daytona after Ferrari’s 1-2-3 finish at the 1967 Daytona 24 hours. This Ferrari houses a 4.4-litre Colombo V12 engine, producing around 352 bhp, which was paired with a five-speed transaxle for ideal weight distribution. The Ferrari 365 GTB goes from 0-60mph in 5.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 174 mph. This Ferrari Daytona came to our workshops for carburettor fine-tuning to ensure the Ferrari has good power delivery and mechanical precision.

In addition, our Series 1 race Jaguar E-Type has also been on our rolling road dyno in preparation for the Spa Six Hours race at Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps. The E-Type, which is campaigned by our sister business, P&K Thornton, will be competing in this year’s event. To ensure the E-Type is performing at its best, we have upgraded to a new engine. The new engine, built by Tom Barclay, was installed in our 1961 Jaguar E-Type to ensure greater reliability and provide an upgrade in power. To ensure our new engine has the best results on track, we fine-tuned the E-Type on our rolling road.
